My village Kosovo and our art shop "The school"

Hello friends,

Perhaps few of you know that I live in a unique Rhodope village, with Revival architecture, which has managed to survive the modern trends of new construction. If in 1919, 1500 people lived in the village of Kosovo, now we are only 25 permanent residents and a little more who have homes for the weekend or for the summer. Of course, 11 guest houses make our village alive not only on weekends, and not only in the summer, but almost all year round.
Since May 2025 we have opened our Art shop "The school", where we lovingly show the crafts of the people of our village, as well as provide tourist information to guests who stop by to enjoy the silence and beauty of Kosovo.
As I say, the chakras here open for creative activity, so everyone who lives here discovers their talents and creates at full steam.
Personally, I am from the city of Kubrat, I spent most of my life in the city of Ruse and in Kuwait, and since 2018 I have been living with my family in the village of Kosovo.
Let me add some information about our village:
The village of Kosovo is located in the Rhodope Mountains. It is located in the central part (Chernatitsa) of the mountain, 5 km from the spa resort of Narechenski Bani. It is surrounded by hills with pristine nature, and its neighborhoods are cut by four never-ending rivers. It is easily accessible from Asenovgrad (30 km), Pamporovo (36 km), Plovdiv (50 km), Sofia (197 km).

Kosovo has been inhabited since the time of the Thracians, but the first official documents in which it is mentioned are from the 17th century, when settlers from Staro Selo to the monastery of Byala Cherkva, as well as 52 families from Shiroka Laka, came to the village. The village flourished towards the end of the 19th century, when most of the houses that have survived to this day were built. The population's livelihood was animal husbandry, agriculture, carpentry and masonry. In the 20th century, with the flourishing of the mineral baths in Narechen, the village declined.

The village of Kosovo has preserved the typical Rhodope Revival architecture. It has several cultural monuments, 5 of which are of national importance. Two of the buildings are the work of the famous master Hadji Georgi Stanchovski, who also built the houses of Koyumdzhioglu and Dimitar Georgiadi in Old Plovdiv. These are the church "Assumption of the Virgin Mary" from 1851 and his own house ("Hadzhiyskata") from 1853. Also extremely interesting are the old school (1889), the chapels, the mill, as well as most of the old houses in the village.
